Geomancy

Geomancy literally means “geo” – earth and “mancy” – divination of.

The earth is a sphere of energy that continually emits natural radiation, this radiation can be distorted by electromagnetic fields, subterranean running water, mineral concentrations, underground cavities and fault lines.

Geomancy is the art of locating areas of geopathic stress, through dowsing, and rectifying them with specific remedies. Physical indicators of geopathic stress can be cracks in buildings or the ground, the presence of ants, termites or wasps’ nests, stressed trees, bare patches, moss or fungi on a lawn or stunted vegetation. The more subtle signs of geopathic stress can be your cat’s favourite and often unexpected sleeping position (cat’s are drawn to geopathic stress), having a room that people are reluctant to use or don’t feel comfortable in and electrical appliances or light globes that break down or ‘blow’ regularly without any obvious reason.

If our landscape is out of balance (geopathic stress) it can affect our physical, emotional or spiritual wellbeing. While geopathic stress itself does not cause illness, it can lower our immune system making us more susceptible to disease and poor health.

According to the Dulwich Health Society, "the most common indications of geopathic stress are: resistance to medical treatment, a feeling of being run-down and exhausted, depression, nervousness, loss of appetite, pallor and allergy to food, affected by electricity and not absorbing the necessary vitamins and minerals. Not wanting to go to bed and when in bed: insomnia, restless sleep, feeling cold, cramps, tingling in arms and legs, sleep walking, grinding of teeth, nightmares and fatigue and muzzy head in the morning. Children are often bed wetter’s and babies continuously crying."
